C.L.P and IFRA Standards

What is a C.L.P?

C.L.P stands for "Classification, Labelling and Packaging", all candles, melts and diffusers etc  need to inform customers of any chemical / hazards within a product.  This includes natural essential oils.

C.L.P is an EU and UK regulation which requires hazardous chemicals to be classified, labelled and packaged accordingly to ensure a high level of protection for consumers, workers and the environment.

Wherever you purchase your products, your provider should clearly identify and provide the products C.L.P for you with your purchase.

Working to IFRA...... Working to IFRA standards.

The IFRA Standards form the basis for the globally accepted and recognised risk management system for the safe use of fragrance ingredients and are part of the IFRA Code of Practice.

This is the self-regulating system of the industry, based on risk assessments carried out by an independent Expert Panel.

The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) is the global representative body of the fragrance industry. It seeks to represent the collective interests of the industry and promote the safe use of fragrances.

The fragrance industry has developed a system to manage the safe use of fragrance: the IFRA Standards. The rules are developed in partnership with members and other stakeholders in a transparent process overseen by independent experts.

Further advice for best practice.....

Always keep a burning candle, oil burner or tea light within sight.

For best practice, use an oil burner with wax melts and high quality tea lights.

Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets.

Trim candlewicks to ¼ inch each time before burning.

Be sure wax melt burners and candle-holders are placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

For candles with herb/flower additions, remember to stop burning the candle when there is approximately 1.5cm of wax left.

Keep the wax pool clear of candle free wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.

Don't over load the bowl of a wax melt burner.  It is always best

to leave a space between the top of the bowl and the amount

of wax melts you add.

Always burn candles and use wax melts in a well-ventilated room.

Never use a candle as a night light.

My items and candles and melts (in general) are not suitable for children, due to the dangers of fire.

Essential Oils

Working with essential oils.

The working practice of Bettyrose Creations is to blend and create beautiful aromatic essential oil products to support our wellbeing via aromatic air distillation.  My creations are made for the purpose of use in oil burner / wax burners only and should never be applied topically to your skin or ingested.

I work to IFRA standards and all my products come with C.L.P information.

If you are pregnant and / or have a health condition, I would always advise that you speak to your health care professional should you have any questions relating to the use of essential oils.

I do hope you have found this information useful.
