We are now moving into the enchanted days of Winter with its cold crisp air and mornings of magical, sparkling frosts. So with this in mind, my first aromatic blend in this months subscription is entitled Woodland Walks. The type of walks when we find ourselves wrapped in hats, coats and gloves, while our breath is caught in the air creating swirling patterns of cold mist. Woodlands in Folklore and fairy tales are often depicted as magical environments, Such as in the wonderful and atmospheric Narnia of C.S Lewis’ chronicles.
So using a collection of woody essential oils, your first blend is entitled: Woodland Walk and combines in a hot throw the essential oils of Juniper, Cedarwood, Bay and Turmeric and has a sprinkle of juniper dust added to the melts appearance for a cold throw infusion and aesthetic beauty.
I have referenced CS Lewis - Narnia chronicles on the first blend and now focus specifically on this story and in particular on one of its scenes for my second blend. Anyone who has read The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, will remember the tempting Turkish delight that is offered and taken by Edmund. The scene in the book is depicted as an icy, snow laden environment. This scene has always captured my imagination, during the many times of reading and watching the story. So for my 2nd blend, I offer you ‘Narnia Delight’ my own version of a Turkish delight aroma with just a touch of the cold snow. This aromatic blend is made via a hot throw of pure Geranium and Pine essential oils and is aesthetically decorated with home grown air dried geranium petals, which give an additional cold throw.
Blend 1 Woodland Walks contains:
Juniper: Juniper berry essential oil (Juniperus communis) is a steam-distilled oil from the berries and needles of the juniper plant. It's said to have an encouraging and supportive affect on the emotional and spiritual aspects of a person, particularly helping a person navigate fears and resistance to the type of digging deep necessary for healing.
Cedarwood: Steam distilled from the wood. Emotionally, Cedarwood is said to have a grounding, calming affect on the nervous system and is thought to have the spiritual affect of bringing people together.
Bay: The oil comes from leaves and twigs that are steam distilled. Emotionally Bay is said to included the ability to boost confidence as well as uplifting the mind and sharpening.
Turmeric: The rhizomes are steam distilled to release the yellow to dark orange middle top note oil. A warming oil that can offer spicy and earthy support.
Blend 2 Narnia Delights contains:
Geranium: Energetically, it's said to help a person regain their trust in the world and in others. This heart-centre oil helps us to heal, tear down barriers, release anger, and manage overwhelming emotions.
Pine: Emotionally it is said that pine can help with anxiety and sadness, while bringing clarity to your day.
